Bereavement & Loss
Bereavement, grief and loss evoke painful experiences to integrate.
Death and dying throw up difficult emotions, not just sadness and grief but more challenging feelings like guilt, anger and relief. Relationships come under pressure as people react differently to loss and family dynamics are altered as people seek to adjust to the change. It often has an impact on our health with symptoms ranging from loss of appetite to lack of energy. Changed circumstances may demand we undertake new and unfamiliar tasks requiring us to learn new skills. We may question our faith, who we are and what our purpose in life is. All this can be deeply confusing, unsettling and difficult to manage. Add to this societal taboo around speaking of death and the constant request to move on and get over the event can leave us feeling pressured, very alone and isolated. Our work would give you an opportunity to process your bereavement, be it recent or older. We would seek to explore how you could come terms with the situation. My hope is that therapy allows you manage the process and find some peace. |
